KPopAssistant is a KDE-based software that checks POP3 emails with advanced features, similar to KShowMail. It is a multi-pop email checker software designed specifically for K-Pop enthusiasts.
One of the key features that this software provides is its support for the POP3 protocol, which allows users to watch and manage multiple Pop3 accounts at once. As a user, you have the ability to view email details such as the date, sender, subject, attachment status, size, and whether the email has been read or unread. Additionally, you can delete emails as you please and preview mail messages using either the simple or full source view.
The software is integrated with KDE and provides a system tray icon that allows you to be notified when new emails come in via a beep sound or GUI notification. You can launch Kmail and Kmail composer window from the systray or main app, or any other app of your choosing. There is also the option to reply to emails with the Kmail composer window.
Furthermore, the software includes an SQLite database that stores all mail information using pysqlite. To use this software, you must have KDE, Python, pyqt, pyKDE, and pysqlite2 (although this should no longer be required with python 2.5.x) installed.
To install the KPopAssistant software, simply unpack the archive, navigate to the unpacked folder, and run kpopassistant.py. Alternatively, you can run the installer 'setup.py' and then access the application using the command 'kpopassistant' or from the KDE menu's 'Internet' section.
Some of the new features added to this release include the option to play user-defined .wav files when new mail arrives, file selector dialogs in Settings panel, and the ability to double click on an item to show an email preview dialog.
