ktabbedrdp is a simple tool that enhances the functionality of rdesktop by enabling multiple sessions in a simple tabbed interface.
Despite its current lack of features, ktabbedrdp is certainly functional and offers a promising experience for users. It is still in an alpha phase, and the team is eager to receive feedback from its users.
Installation of ktabbedrdp is easy. Simply execute the ktabbedkrdpinstaller.sh file, and it will guide you through the rest of the installation process. Upon completion, you will look for a program called krdp in your utilities menu.
To run ktabbedrdp, you will need to have KDE 3.4.x installed on your system.
This latest release of ktabbedrdp is packed with handy new features. A new location bar allows you to type in an address for easy access. If you type a host with a configured profile, ktabbedrdp will automatically use that profile. Additionally, there is a new console feature, allowing you to connect to the console of any specified machine.
A new profile editor can also be found in the latest release. You can use it to create, edit, and delete profiles as needed. However, note that SeamlessRDP profiles are not yet supported.
The new Options tag in the configuration dialog adds even more options for users. You can now bypass KDE's ctrl-alt-delete shortcut, and even auto-hide the hosts and location bar when connecting to a host, so you can really use as much space as possible.
EXPERIMENTAL SeamlesRDP integration is also on offer - if you have seamlessRDP installed on the remote host, you can now add (only) an application under the remote applications on the start page. This application will be started up in its own window just like if you ran it from a conventional rdp session.
Additional cosmetic changes, sound port redirection options, and history for the location bar can also be found in this latest release. Note that there may still be bugs in the system, so users should be prepared to encounter hiccups.
All in all, ktabbedrdp is a promising option for users seeking a reliable and functional multi-session remote desktop client. So far, it has certainly delivered on its promise of speed and ease of use.
