LabPlot is a KDE program that assists with data plotting and function analysis. It is used to obtain a graphical representation of data and analyze functions.
One of the most notable features of LabPlot is its ability to support versatile data and function plotting. With flexible data reading and writing capabilities in different file formats, including cdf, netcdf, audio, binary, and images, LabPlot can read over 80 image formats and compressed data. It also has an extensive parser for creating 2D and 3D functions and supports all GNU Scientific Library (GSL) functions and constants. The application can create a wide array of plots from function and data files, including 2D, 3D, surface, polar, ternary, and pie plots, as well as providing basic support for GRASS plots. Additionally, it supports multiple plots per worksheet and data set operations, with a speed mode for large data sets and a data mode for inspecting data points.
Editing plots in LabPlot is incredibly easy thanks to its versatile spreadsheet for data manipulation. Users can clone graphs, delete or clone plots, and double click on plots to open detailed dialogs for all settings. Every object can be dragged using the mouse, and data points can be masked or free or pan zoomed. The application also provides data statistics information, drawing objects editing by mouse, and online scaling and shifting of plots.
LabPlot is also adept at data and function analysis, offering a range of tools such as average, smooth, and prune data, Compress, periodical and seasonal analysis, peak find, interpolation, differences, integration, histogram, regression (up to 10th order), non-linear fit (also any user-defined function with up to 9 parameter), Fourier transform, and (de)convolution. Additionally, it has advanced image manipulation capabilities.
The application also supports LabPlot project files, with multiple worksheets and spreadsheets using MDI. Users can save and open all worksheets and spreadsheets in a project file (*.lpl), as well as export worksheets as image, ps, svg, eps, pdf, and many more formats (using pstoedit or ImageMagick). There are many example project files available as well.
LabPlot also features a familiar KDE look and feel, allowing users to configure default values for plot style and symbols, print and embedded print preview, drag and drop support, and a KPart for LabPlot projects. Additionally, it has a KDE handbook available in English and German and supports simple scripting using Qt Script for Applications (QSA).
In the latest release, LabPlot has fixed several bugs, including crashes in the export dialog, function dialog, and when opening files. It has also improved its import data file capabilities to allow for files without extensions.
Overall, LabPlot is an excellent tool for data plotting and function analysis, with a host of features that are sure to impress. It's versatile, user-friendly, and backed by a supportive community.
