Lifetimer is a versatile timekeeping software that offers multiple methods for tracking various aspects of one's life.
The timer function allows users to measure how long something has been done, whereas the alarm system enables them to create different types of alarms. Once the alarm duration is complete, a dialog opens up, and a pleasant beeping sound will play until the alarm dialog is closed.
The work/break cycle function is particularly useful for scheduling regular breaks to prevent eye strain or repetitive stress injury. It can also be used to implement the (10 + 2) * 5 Procrastination Dash idea from 43folders.com. Sounds are played at the beginning of each work and break period to indicate the start and end of each interval.
The sound effects in Lifetimer were created using software blue and Csound. As this program is free to use, the developer kindly requests donations from users who found it valuable.
To use Lifetimer, users must have Java 1.4 or higher and Java Web Start installed. The latest release has improved the setup dialogs for the alarm and work/break cycle features. Users can set times using a spinner or values from a preset, and there is better organization of presets. Last settings for Alarm and Work/Break Cycle are now saved on close and reloaded on open, making it more user-friendly. The main window size has also been made more compact.
