The LightLang project comprises Linux language software programs.
One of the advantages of the LightLang project is its flexibility in terms of usage. You can either use the SL graphical interface or invoke the search kernel directly from the command line, which is particularly convenient when using systems that do not support the X-server. Although this is a UNIX-native program, it may limit its cross-platform compatibility, but it's a tradeoff as it optimizes the productivity and versatility of the software. To install the program, you will require PyQt4>=4.2 and python-xlib, and it's essential to read the instructions provided in the directory "readme" before installation.
While the program was originally created for Russian users, it doesn't restrict itself to Russian-only dictionaries, as there are dictionaries available for various other languages. Additionally, the software includes a translation of documents and an English interface, making it an excellent option for a broader audience of Linux users. LightLang hopes to emerge as a strong rival to GNOME and StarDict.
Lastly, some notable updates in this release include the addition of an option to output translation in the dictionary's original format for SL. For XSL, there is an extension in TranslateSites menu, as well as an improved performance during the critical sections of the code. The program now includes a normal About dialog, a modified tray icon, and its menu, and changes in Artscheme. Meanwhile, LLRepo is fully written in Python, and there has been a syntax change in its options. All in all, LightLang is an excellent option for a wide range of language-related operations on Linux systems, supported by its various programs and packages.
