LinPopUp-2 is a GTK+2-based version of the popular LinPopUp program, offering a reliable platform for messaging and pop-up notifications.
Jean-Marc Jacquet stopped developing LinPopUp in early 2000, but with the rise in popularity of GTK+ v2.x over v1.2.x, several patches appeared on the Net. Wanting to make LinPopUp work better on modern systems, the developer behind LinPopUp-2 made this GTK+2 port for themselves and is pleased to share it with everyone.
Users can expect several key features from LinPopUp-2, such as not needing to always run the program. If it's closed, LinPopUp-2 will still receive all messages that are sent to the user. Even if users quit Xwindow, they can still receive messages. In fact, the only way to miss a message that was sent is if the user's computer is turned off. Messages are kept from session to session, and users can always retrieve a message that was sent to them as long as they haven't deleted it.
Another key feature is that LinPopUp-2 can be run minimized, and it will automatically raise each time a new message arrives. Other features include the ability to reply to a message, clipboard cut & paste, and more. Overall, users looking for a GTK+2 port of LinPopUp will find that LinPopUp-2 is a solid choice.
