This software allows for both splitting and joining files in a convenient tool.
Originally developed by Richard Stellingwerff, lxSplit is now being maintained at its new home. It's also fully compatible with the HJSplit utility, which means you can use lxSplit alongside other operating systems.
When it comes to usage, lxSplit is incredibly user-friendly. Splitting and merging files is as easy as using the -s and -j flags, respectively. Plus, starting from version 0.2.1, lxSplit can handle large files that exceed 4 GB - both when splitting and joining.
Want to split a huge file into smaller 15 MB chunks? Simply enter the command: lxsplit -s hugefile.bin 15M. This utility allows you to specify output size in megabytes (M), kilobytes (k), or bytes (b). To join the files back together, use the command: lxsplit -j smallfiles.bin.001.
No matter whether you're splitting or joining files, lxSplit conveniently places all resulting files in the current directory. So, if you're looking for an easy-to-use file splitting tool that's compatible with unix-like platforms, lxSplit is definitely the way to go.
