M3CCtl is a software designed to control the M3C File System.
One particularly good feature of M3CCtl is that it allows you to store your music on plain MMC cards, which can be accessed by a normal card reader. This eliminates the need for special parallel port boxes or transferring music using the serial port.
Installation of M3CCtl is pretty easy, as it comes only in source code form. All you need to do is follow a few steps: gunzip -c m3cctl-0.1.tar.gz | tar xf -, cd m3cctl-0.1, ./configure [OPTIONS], make, make install (as root). The only option you will probably ever need to change is --prefix, which determines where the resulting binary will be placed. The default prefix is /usr/local.
Overall, M3CCtl is a reliable and easy-to-use control program for the M3C File System. Whether you're storing music or managing other files, this software is well worth checking out.
