MissileUI is a graphical user interface for the USB Launcher tool that manages M&S and Dream Cheeky USB Missile Launchers.
When you first use MissileUI, there might be a slight delay in loading the application. This is normal since it searches for a hidden file called ".MissileUI" in the current directory to display an interface. However, if the file isn’t found, the program will look for ctlmissile via the "find" command and create a .MissileUI file containing its location. The application will then use this location to send instructions to ctlmissile for missile control.
It is important to understand that when MissileUI communicates with the missile launchers via ctlmissile, libusb requires root privileges. Therefore, the user must either run MissileUI as root and access the X server or change the ctlmissile program to setuid root. The latter can be done by typing “chown root ctlmissile chgrp root ctlmissile chmod 755 ctlmissile chmod u+s ctlmissile,” which will allow users to control missile launchers without any issues.
To run MissileUI smoothly, users must have Qt 4.x and KDE 4.x installed. Furthermore, the latest release of MissileUI saves the settings file in the user's home directory, rather than where the program is launched from, offering more convenient user customization. Overall, MissileUI is a great frontend that allows users to control missile launchers with ease.
