Mrxvt is an X terminal emulator with multiple tabs that is built on the foundation of rxvt.
One of the most notable features of Mrxvt is its support for multiple tabs, which makes it extremely easy to manage multiple tasks or activities simultaneously. Additionally, it comes equipped with runtime dynamic tab titles, session support for each tab, and input broadcasting for all tabs. Plus, users have the option to configure keyboard shortcuts, create translucent windows, and even adjust the background color tinting.
Other cool features that are worth mentioning include color text shadows, off-focus background fading, and support for multiple styles of scrollbars. Plus, you can add your own background image for each terminal, scrollbar, menubar, and tabbar, which is a pretty nifty feature.
Mrxvt is also incredibly fast and responsive, largely due to the fact that it is not dependent on GTK or Qt. It also supports freetype fonts (xft), XIM and multi-languages (Chinese/Korean/Japanese), and can run on multiple platforms. Plus, it features utmp/wtmp/lastlog logging, which is a nice touch.
While there are no groundbreaking changes in the latest release, numerous updates have been made to Mrxvt over the past year. However, due to time constraints, some of these updates were not released. Nevertheless, Mrxvt remains a powerful and user-friendly terminal emulator that is definitely worth trying out.
