Multixterm is a software tool used to generate numerous xterms that can be operated together or independently. With this tool, users can control several terminals in a single window.
One of the best features of Multixterm is that you can redirect keystrokes in the "stdin window" to all xterms started by the tool. And if you desire to operate the xterms separately, you can easily focus on any of them. One thing to note is that for keystrokes to be sent to the xterms, the stdin window must have the focus. You can tell when the stdin window has the focus since its color changes to aquamarine, while characters entered turn green momentarily.
Another helpful feature is that you can send an escape character before the typed characters while holding down the alt or meta key. This allows support for programs such as emacs. Overall, multixterm is a valuable tool that simplifies working with multiple xterms, allows for easy switching between them, and provides support for programs such as emacs.
