Mytop is a console-based tool that allows monitoring of MySQL 3.22.x, 3.23.x, and 4.x performance, including thread monitoring. It doesn't require a GUI.
Another great aspect of mytop is that with Term::ANSIColor installed, users can enjoy the benefits of color. And, if you install Time::HiRes, you will be able to get good real-time queries/second stats. Additionally, version 0.7 adds support for Windows systems (although it may have some limitations in this environment).
To install mytop, simply run the following commands:
tar -zxvf mytop-< version >.tar.gz
cd mytop-< version >
perl Makefile.PL
make
make test
make install
While the test included with mytop may be somewhat basic, it is included for the sake of completeness.
Overall, mytop is a fantastic tool for those looking to monitor MySQL performance. Its easy installation and compatibility with various systems make it a great choice for many users. With the recent addition of support for passwords with embedded spaces, it's clear that the developers behind mytop are dedicated to continually improving and updating this software.
