This software displays musical chord symbols using HTML.
Users can easily store, retrieve and display chords and song lyrics through a wiki-like syntax. The software supports several markup characters, such as @, ~, % and & which enable users to add new lines for either chords or lyrics and denote a new measure or a chord line.
The software automatically prints out table rows and columns based on lines and measures within the chord chart. Users have the option to enter chord charts in a freeform format using tabs, spaces or line breaks as they prefer.
The software also supports complex chords with the use of parentheses and ^. It automatically wraps each measure in backticks and includes a ruleset that handles font size increases, defaulting to < big >< big > while ignoring any measure containing /.
Provisions have been made for rows containing CHORUS and similar divisions or comments. Users can choose to display chord charts in a two-column scheme with lyrics on the left and chords on the right.
This software is currently in alpha and users are advised to take note that changes may occur in the future. Additionally, any user-generated chord charts might require changes to work with later versions of the software. To ensure accuracy and proper display, users must use ASCIIMathML.js in conjunction with Nashville Web Charts.
Overall, Nashville Web Charts is a promising software project that allows users to easily create, display and share musical chord charts with accuracy and ease.
