Nomad II software facilitates Linux-based file transfers and other functions for the Creative Nomad II, IIc, and II MG via USB connection.
You can set up Nomad II in various ways. For example, you can use the devuid, devgid, or devmode mount options for usbdevfs in your /etc/fstab file or /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit on RedHat 7.x. For instance, you can use devmode=0666 to give full access to all USB devices, but this creates a security issue. Instead, in a multi-user machine, it's better to set up a group for USB using this method. You can also install the usb_perms daemon using the hotplug package. This subsystem offers excellent support for USB devices with user-level drivers, such as Nomad II, with its usb.usermap launch method.
Additionally, this software offers new features and updates in this release. For instance, it has been renamed to nomadii and is now available as an RPM. It fully supports Nomad II, IIc, and II MG with the latest firmware. It has also improved error detection and reporting, splitting the code into a text front end and library, and better name handling and progress reporting. It has updated support for nomadii-driver, better USB device permission options, and added send/get methods. It even supports multiple send, get, and delete operations.
With many major and minor bug fixes, this software offers an improved user experience, making it a suitable option for creative Nomad II device users.
