OPS is a project collaboration platform that integrates e-mail, calendaring, and other server components. It enables efficient project management and communication among team members.
The project server acts as a Webservices hub based on Java (J2EE) that integrates different services required within a project. The persistence layer, for storing project data, utilizes LDAP, specifically OpenLDAP, though other alternatives could be utilized. OPS employs the standard IMAP server for the email backend, where its reference implementation uses Courier.
The OPS client extensions or plugins enable clients such as Mozilla Thunderbird (XUL) and Squirrelmail (PHP) to be OPS-enabled. Additionally, the platform employs a Mozilla Sunbird extension (XUL) for the calendaring and timesheet components.
Overall, OPS presents an open-source software (OSS) stack for a project collaboration environment that enlivens services with project information while utilizing off-the-shelf clients/servers and open standards.
In this latest release, the underlying LDAP schema has undergone modifications to enable disabling of completed tasks. To utilize this new feature, there is the need to update both the web services and Sunbird timesheet client.
