otf2bdf software is a command-line tool using FreeType 2 to create BDF bitmap fonts.
For systems lacking Freetype 2.1.5 or more advanced versions, users must install a Freetype2 distribution (>= 2.1.5) from build and install it. The ttf2bdf program comes with the Freetype 1.* distribution in the /contrib/ttf2bdf/ subdirectory. After installation, users can compile otf2bdf by following these steps: % ./configure % make install.
When compiling, the following hints should be noted:
- The "configure" script expects the "freetype-config" script to be in the executable path installed with FreeType2.
- The installation directory can be specified by the --prefix=< some dir > command-line parameter to the configure script.
- A statically linked version can be created (on Linux/Unix) by compiling like this:% make STATIC=-static install.
To get a list of otf2bdf command-line options, type % otf2bdf -h in the command line.
