Psh is a powerful shell that merges the powerful capabilities of Perl with the interactivity of a Unix shell. It is designed to provide an environment where developers can write complex scripts, automate tasks, and execute commands with ease using Perl syntax.
This software was born out of a need for an interactive Perl execution environment in which to try out code snippets. The author looked for solutions but found nothing satisfactory. Upon discussing the idea with a friend, he created version 0.001 of Perl Shell.
Initially, Perl Shell's development was privately hosted, using low-tech manual mailing lists. Eventually, the project was moved to Source Forge for better management, offering a CVS repository, release archive, mailing list management, and more.
To use Perl Shell, download it from a listed location and follow the instructions in the INSTALL file. For those wishing to participate in development, joining Source Forge and signing up for mailing list memberships is recommended. Anonymous CVS access is available to keep an up-to-date copy of the code on one's system, and CVS write access is granted to core developers.
The latest release includes an applied patch from rafalka.
