PizzaPup is a Puppy Linux distribution that offers a new and engaging experience with its visually impressive interface.
Unlike live CD distributions that have to keep pulling stuff off the CD, PizzaPup loads entirely into RAM. This feature ensures that all applications start instantly, and responsiveness to user input is swift. Furthermore, PizzaPup has the ability to boot off a flash card or any USB memory device, CDROM, Zip disk, LS/120/240 Superdisk or floppy disks. The compact size of PizzaPup makes it easily portable and very convenient to use.
The storage requirements of PizzaPup are quite small, typically occupying about 50-60M on a USB Flash drive, CDROM, or any other storage media. When PizzaPup boots, everything uncompresses into a RAM area referred to as a "ramdisk". The live-CD will boot up on systems with only 32M RAM, but to achieve maximum performance, a PC with a minimum of 128M RAM is ideal.
PizzaPup will automatically use a swap partition if it exists, and when booting from a USB flash device, it attempts to load all the Flash files into physical RAM. If there is not enough RAM available, PizzaPup can copy the excess to a swap partition if it exists, eliminating writes to the Flash memory during a session, thereby extending its life span. In conclusion, for anyone looking for a fast, responsive, and portable Linux distribution, PizzaPup is an excellent choice.
