planet.rb is an RSS aggregator software designed to create "planet" sites with ease.
Ruby, the language planet.rb is built on, is a dynamic and versatile programming language. Developed in Japan in the 1990s by Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto, Ruby features a variety of programming paradigms, including functional, object-oriented, and imperative. It utilizes a dynamic type system and automatic memory management and has similarities to other popular programming languages like Python, Perl, Lisp, Dylan, and CLU.
The official implementation of Ruby is single-pass interpreted language written in C. Since there is no set specification for the Ruby language, the implementation currently serves as the de facto reference. However, since 2008, several other virtual machines have been developed, including JRuby, Rubinius, YARV, and IronRuby.
When installing planet.rb, ensure that you have the necessary requirements for Ruby, namely Ruby version 1.8.2 or higher. Edit the shebang line of bin/planet.rb and copy planet.rb to your desired directory before making it executable with the command "chmod +x /path/to/dir/planet.rb."
