Portfolyo is an online platform for tracking personal projects and skills. It is a web-based software designed to help individuals keep track of their accomplishments and showcase their work to potential employers.
The Portfolyo software is a CGI application written in Python and offers unique features, including the ability to manage and track your projects and skills in a web-based administration interface. You can also present a list of your projects and detailed views of them on your website. Additionally, Portfolyo allows you to present a "skills matrix" that transparently associates skills with your level of experience and related projects. You can easily customize the look and functionality of your portfolio by editing HTML templates, and data import/export is straightforward using a flat file.
To run Portfolyo, you need Python 2.2 or higher and either a MySQL or PostgreSQL database. Also, the MySQLdb or the psycopg database adapter module must be installed.
In the latest release, the display order of project pictures can be changed after adding them. Another exciting feature is the concept of "retired" skills, where skills not used for more than a defined number of months are considered "retired" and labeled as such. The new configuration parameter "retiredSkillsThreshold" is used to set the retiring threshold. Portfolyo now uses an external Cheetah library to speed up template processing, and all thumbnails are JPEGs to prevent heavily aliased thumbnails.
Overall, Portfolyo is an excellent tool for managing projects and skills, and the added customization features and easy data import/export make it a great asset for professionals.
