Pymfvu is a compact research initiative.
The tool comes packed with several key features that make it a standout software for professionals working with metafiles. Users can open files listed as command-line arguments or from a menu, play files 'step-by-step' and toggle the hexdump of the current Metafile record. Furthermore, it has a toggle transparency option for filled parts, allowing users to show a list of records in a separate window and save as an SVG.
To use pymfvu, you need to have pygtk, pycairo, pangocairo, pyemf (SVN snapshot), and pywmf (included in the source tarball) installed. Once installed, you can run it and open file(s) with File->Open (^O) or supply filenames to open in command line. The software is easy to navigate, with options to slide the ruler to the right side for a 'play' of the metafile, toggle transparency using View->Alpha(^T), or view hexadecimal dumps of the metafile with View->Hexdump (^D).
The software also features an option to open windows with a list of MF records in the file and the ability to close files on the current tab and exit if there are no more opened files. You can also save to an SVG file by using File->SaveAs (^S) - note that you have to slide the ruler to the end, or just the displayed part will be saved.
In this release, Support for ETO_PDY and a workaround for ETO_CLIPPED were added. Overall, pymfvu is an excellent software tool for professionals who work with metafiles. Its user-friendly interface, powerful features, and capabilities make it a reliable and dependable program in the market.
