Pymp'd is a Python-based client for Music Player Daemon (MPD), designed to resemble Rhythmbox. It is built using GTK2 and allows for convenient control of MPD.
The developers acknowledge and give credit to mackstann for his excellent work on libpympdclient, which constitutes an integral part of Pymp'd.
To run Pymp'd, your system must meet the minimum requirements of having python 2.4 and pygtk 2.6 and libglade already installed. The installation process is straightforward and only requires you to run "python setup.py install --root=PREFIX_DIR."
Once installed, you can launch Pymp'd by typing "python pympd" in the terminal.
In case mpd's access requires a password, you need to add pertinent details to the ~/.pympd/pympd.conf file. Specifically, adding "use_auth:1" and "password:mypassword" will grant you the read access needed to use Pymp'd.
