Pysclint is a set of Python interfaces to scientific libraries, providing seamless integration and easy access to major scientific libraries.
The pysclint packages respect the API's of the original libraries, without making any changes or corrections, and users can easily refer to the original documentation. However, the packages also include an object-oriented programming approach where appropriate. The goal is to make users of the original API feel at home when working with the Python version, and also to ensure that people new to the API will find it easy to use via pysclint.
Currently, there are three interfaces provided: pycdf, which is a Python interface to the Unidata netCDF library; pyhdf, which is a Python interface to the NCSA HDF4 library; and an interface to the MPI 1.2 standard will be available soon.
The pysclint project was previously hosted at Institut Maurice-Lamontagne (IML), but was moved to Sourceforge.net in July 2005. The author appreciates IML's previous support and encourages users to reach out with any questions or feedback. Overall, if you're looking to work with these major scientific libraries in Python, pysclint provides a solid solution.
