Pytego is a Pygame-based clone of the classic board game, Stratego, designed to be networkable for multiplayer gaming.
This initial release of Pytego can be downloaded and tested, with feedback of all kinds being welcomed. The developer is looking for suggestions and bug reports, and would appreciate new tiles and graphics sent his way. There are plans to further develop Pytego, including the addition of support for user-customizable tilesets and icons.
Credit is given to the Civil developers for inspiration and their easy-to-use networking code. The Newbie Guide by David Clarke is also acknowledged for convincing the developer to focus solely on rule number eight, and to approach the project in the "pythony way" according to rule number thirteen.
A highlight of the latest release includes the reuse of the "box" as the status area after the game has started, reducing the blank, white space previously present. Overall, Pytego provides a fun and engaging gaming experience for Stratego fans worldwide.
