Kye is a Linux clone of the classic puzzle game Kye.
The clone is well-executed, and the creator has done their best to make it as authentic to the original game as possible. The game mimics the original, including some of the unusual/buggy things that occur in the original game. It should be compatible with all levels for v1.0 and v2.0 of the original Windows version of Kye. If any level seems not to work right, the creator is open to feedback.
One small difference between the clone and the original game is that the clone is slightly more predictable. In the original, timing-sensitive mechanisms in levels would sometimes break for no apparent reason. The creator believes that the original used two separate timer objects to control faster and slower objects, and these would sometimes drift apart. However, this effect was so marginal that it is doubtful any levels exist that depend on it.
Unlike Kye for Windows v2, there is no level editor in this version of Python Kye. However, editing levels can still be done with a text editor, as half of the existing extra levels were made this way. In the latest release of this game, the wall auto-rounding in the editor has been fixed, and code cleanups have been completed.
Overall, Python Kye is a successful and authentic clone of the original game and is recommended for puzzle game enthusiasts.
