QXMMS is a compact command line tool that retrieves the current status of XMMS.
In terms of software requirements, QueryXMMS is remarkably minimalistic. All you'll need is to have a working XMMS installation, and the software will take care of the rest.
Once you have downloaded and unpacked the qxmms-x.x.tar.bz2 package, getting started on this software is quick and easy. If you have opted for the pre-compiled binary, you can run it right alongside your XMMS installation. However, if you prefer to compile manually, typing "make" should do the trick. Once you have finished installing the software, you can move or link it to whichever directory will enable you to execute binaries with ease from any location.
If you have copied qxmms to /usr/bin, you can start using this application right away. All the necessary commands are typed at the shell- be it xterm, konsole,Eterm, or any other terminal of your choice. Remember not to type out the quotes when you're entering commands.
By typing "qxmms", you should expect to receive a response that reads "Sugar Ray - When It's Over." With QueryXMMS, monitoring XMMS's current activity has never been more uncomplicated.
