"Remove-master" is a software that efficiently gets rid of files, while still saving them for future reference. It enables users to declutter their storage drives without losing important data.
Remove-master typically features three distinct commands: remind-rm, auto-rm, and forget-rm. Remind-rm is used to calculate the digests of files and store them in the database for later use by auto-rm. Auto-rm, on the other hand, is used to remove only those files whose digests have been stored in the database using remind-rm. Forget-rm is used to remove the digest of specific files from the database.
This software is well suited for individuals who need to tidy up old archives containing software, drivers, images, and other documents. For instance, those that have collected a lot of data over a long period, used different computers, and made numerous backups of their files on many different media. Such users would like to decide for every content if they would like to delete it permanently. So when they check another ten-year-old CD-R or 15-year-old tape, remove-master automatically deletes files they have already decided are not worth keeping.
Remove-master has numerous potential applications beyond its initial intent; for instance, you can use it to streamline the removal of files that have multiple copies. An example of how it works is included with the software.
This release comes with a new command called "find-rm" that helps search for previously deleted files.
