Role Playing Tools is a software that brings the traditional pen and paper role playing tabletop to the computer, providing an enhanced and immersive experience.
To augment our 3.5ed D&D pen-and-paper role-playing experience, we found Role Playing Tools to be the perfect complement. These tools do not replace our traditional role-playing style, but instead, they extend our gaming experience. They are not stand-alone role-playing games; neither are they a replacement for everything that happens during the D&D tabletop.
DiceTool is the ideal expression parser that boasts of built-in functions for generating random numbers. It is extendable by using JavaScript to perform various calculations. Whereas, the MapTool is an alluring graphical tool that facilitates sharing of maps and map data (drawings, markers, grid placement) across multiple players in a client/server fashion. TokenTool, an accessory to MapTool, is the best tool for dragging any image onto the workspace, and using the mouse to move and zoom on the image in the reticle, and then drag the preview pane directly or use the File->Save option to save a PNG file.
This tool is compatible with Java 1.5, and it has undergone critical updates in this new release, which includes many performance and memory usage improvements, stamps and layers, hex grids, top-down token type, facing, full-screen mode, screenshot export, new default images, chat improvements, and fog of war improvements.
Overall, Role Playing Tools is an excellent software that enhances the gaming experience of traditional pen-and-paper role-playing tabletop gamers. This tool is straightforward, powerful, and adds value to the game.
