Ruby-rpm allows for accessing RPM packages and databases through Ruby bindings.
The installation process is straightforward. All you need to do is decompress the archive and enter the top directory. Type the following commands:
$ ruby install.rb config
$ ruby install.rb setup
$ su
# ruby setup.rb install
Alternatively, if you wish to install files into a specific directory of your choice, you can supply install.rb with some options. You can find out more by typing "ruby setup.rb --help."
Using ruby-rpm is also quite easy. All you need to do is require 'rpm,' and you're good to go.
It's essential to note that this software requires ruby 1.6, gcc, and RPM 4.0.0 or newer. It's been tested on 4.0.4 and 4.2.1 versions of RPM.
In this updated release, a hash method has been added for RPM::Version. Additionally, the zero epoch is now treated the same as no epoch in RPM::Version. All in all, ruby-rpm is a powerful tool that's worth checking out.
