SaneWidget is a user-friendly frontend image scanning software that simplifies the scanning process through its streamlined interface by integrating with the SANE scanner driver.
Libsanewidget is a library that utilizes the Qt4-based software to provide you with a widget. It has all of the sane options you need and a preview area to help you know what is in the scanned image. To use the libsanewidget is simple. All you need to do is create a sanewidget-widget, and then connect some signals to make it notify you when the image is ready to retrieve.
The source package comes with both the tool and the library. To compile the library, follow these steps: go to /path/to/libsanewidget, create a new build directory, run the cmake command, build, and then install using the make command with sudo.
To compile the SaneWidget application, move to /path/to/sanewidget, run the qmake-qt4 command while specifying the installation directory, build the application, and install the app using make and sudo commands.
You can also install Kubuntu Feisty packages using apt-get by adding authentication keys to authenticate the packages. Add the following lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list, update the package list, and install what you need using apt-get.
To use this app, you only need a Qt 4.x.
Notably, the latest version of SaneWidget comes with an added support for Gammatable. This improvement enables you to play with different tones and shades of the image.
