Sawdog is a set of scripts that notifies system operators in the event of a failure for key servers.
There are several scripts available for use with Sawdog including checks for DNS, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, ICMP, IMAP, MS SQL, MySQL, Notes, NTP, POP3, PostgreSQL, SMB, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, telnet, TWS, VNM, and Webmin. Sawdog requires Expect for operation.
The latest release of Sawdog features a brand new web interface that is PHP-based and displays the state of the observed hosts and services. Additionally, this release includes code cleanup and several new service examples added. Overall, Sawdog is an excellent tool for system operators in need of a monitoring suite for mission-critical servers.
