The SCX Tools package offers Linux utilities to enhance Skype capabilities.
One of the most practical tools included in this package is the SCX Recorder. This tool acts as a Skype call recorder that captures both incoming and outgoing calls in either WAV, Ogg Vorbis, or Speex format. You can configure this tool to automatically begin recording calls as soon as they begin, and to stop recording when the call is terminated. Additionally, you also have the option of starting and stopping the recording manually, as well as interrupting the recording with the pause mode.
One significant benefit of the SCX Recorder is that it comes with a README file containing instructions on how to compile the program. Once you've successfully compiled the program, you can place its executable file (meaning the scx-recorder) into any destination directory of your choice. Just ensure that you've already logged into your Skype account before starting the recorder, as the addon requires an active Skype session to function.
When you start SCX Recorder for the first time, you'll find yourself tasked with configuring various program parameters, such as the location of the recorded files, the name structure of the recording files, the audio output device, and the audio storage format. But don't worry, you can modify these settings at a later point too.
With SCX Recorder set up, you can seamlessly begin recording your Skype calls. If you toggle on the ‘Start Recording Automatically’ option, the tool will immediately begin recording as soon as you're in a Skype call or when someone calls you. You can also take complete control manually using Record, Pause, and Stop Buttons to manage the recording process.
System requirements for SCX Recorder include Skype. The latest version includes an almost fully functional call recorder.
