SDL Vexed is a game designed as a puzzle, coded in Perl-SDL. It is a software that features challenging levels and exciting gameplay, that require critical thinking and strategy to solve. It runs on popular operating systems and can be enjoyed by all puzzle enthusiasts.
In Vexed, you move the blocks by placing your mouse on them and dragging them either left or right. If an empty space is found, the blocks will fall to the bottom due to the "gravity" feature. The game follows a golf-like scoring system, with each level having a pre-determined number of moves to solve it, also known as "par". If you solve the level in the same number of moves as what is stored in the level pack, you will receive a score of 0 or "par" for that level. Keep in mind that the stored solution may not always be the most efficient, allowing you to beat "par" and achieve a negative score.
The score displayed during gameplay is not limited to individual levels, but is instead a cumulative score for the entire level pack. You can make use of the Solution feature, which enables you to receive assistance and adds five points to your score.
SDL Vexed does require SDL-perl extensions 1.x to function properly. The latest release of the game now includes a feature that allows you to skip the intro.
Overall, I found SDL Vexed to be an enjoyable and challenging puzzle game that will keep you occupied for hours on end.
