This software allows searches to open in a separate tab without interrupting the current tab's browsing experience.
With this extension installed, entering a search query in the search bar and hitting [ENTER] will trigger the search to open in a new tab instead of replacing the current tab's contents. This eliminates the need to constantly switch between tabs to view search results.
Search4Later also offers a couple of useful keyboard shortcuts. If you hold down [ALT] when hitting [ENTER], the search results will still open in a new tab but will switch to that tab automatically. If you prefer to keep the current tab active, simply hold down [CTRL] when hitting [ENTER] to open the search results in a new tab without switching to it.
One thing to keep in mind is that there is a hidden browser preference called "browser.search.openintab" that can affect how the extension works. By default, this preference is set to false, but if you set it to true, Search4Later will retain its functionality while reversing the modification with respect to [ALT].
If you're running Firefox 3.5, you may also want to check out the "Background Tabs" extension, which offers similar functionality but works from the URL bar instead of the search bar. However, be careful not to install both extensions at once, as they may conflict with each other.
Overall, Search4Later is an excellent extension for anyone who wants to streamline their search process and avoid constant tab switching. If you have any comments, suggestions, or bug reports, be sure to visit the developer's page to make your voice heard.
