Sendmail delivery stats is a Perl software that examines Sendmail log files to generate average delivery durations.
As this was a Sendmail-powered site, I decided to write a simple tool in Perl to analyze the log files and improve the user experience. Sendmail delivery stats collects all log entries related to successful mail delivery, groups it by domain, and calculates the average delivery time. Please note that it's impossible to estimate the amount of time spent in other servers' queues.
For me, the most useful feature of this tool was the -a option, which outputs all data in CSV format. This makes further analysis much simpler. I tested this tool on logs from Sendmail 8.13.x and believe that it calculates accurate values.
The latest version has introduced several improvements. For example, there is now an HTML output format with the option to use a template. Additionally, output is now sorted to make it easier to read. Finally, I have done some minor bug fixes and code cleanup. Overall, I highly recommend Sendmail delivery stats as a helpful tool for analyzing Sendmail log files.
