This software acts as a interface for Gaim to handle irc:// links in Firefox browser, called Sensible IRC Handler. It simplifies the process of using IRC links in Firefox browser.
Recent changes in Ubuntu's future release packages no longer include xchat-gnome due to its recursive duplication with Gaim's IRC capabilities. As a result, Gaim has taken over the task of handling IRC entirely. The Sensible IRC Handler tool uses Gaim as an IRC client, but it does not modify the main Gaim configurations. Instead, the software creates temporary configurations for current sessions only.
The Sensible IRC Handler tool offers a simple functionality that allows Gaim users to add IRC channels defined in InternetRelayChat in the buddy list. However, the software does not automatically add the channels by default. Users who wish to add them must engage in further discussions to ensure that the process is seamless.
In this latest release, the software now includes GTK+ version 2.2.x. As a result, Gaim users can now enjoy an even smoother experience when using the Sensible IRC Handler tool.
