This software allows users to inspect, segment and annotate 3D surface meshes through an interactive graphical user interface.
ShapeAnnotator provides all the necessary tools to create and edit surface features with ease. Users can browse and seek the desired ontology class with a fully functional ontology browser to instantiate and annotate each surface feature. The software implements the latest technologies to represent the semantics of 3D shapes, and is one of the primary technological outputs produced by the EU-FP6 financed Network of Excellence AIM@SHAPE. It is written in C++ and uses the JMeshLib API to represent the polygon mesh internally.
Accepted input file formats are those handled by JMeshLib, including OFF, PLY, STL, VER-TRI (a proprietary format used at IMATI-GE / CNR). Partially accepted input formats are VRML 1.0, VRML 97, OBJ, and IV 2.1. Overall, ShapeAnnotator is an excellent software that delivers an interactive and functional way to inspect and annotate 3D surface meshes efficiently.
