Simple Equation software allows easy integration of mathematical equations onto webpages, reducing the hassle of coding equations manually.
One of the biggest obstacles to using math on the web is the need to learn a layout engine. However, with Simple Equation, you won't have to worry about that. The class is built as a recursive parser, so it's easy to add new operations. While it may not scale to a huge set of operations, it's perfect for keeping things simple.
At some point, you may need a layout engine for more complex equations. Simple Equation is not a layout engine, but it's a great tool for getting started. Currently, only graphical output is generated, but the goal is to generate MathML output automatically if the browser supports it.
To use Simple Equation, you'll need Freetype, gd, and PHP (Version 4 branch). If you're looking for an easy way to display math on the web, Simple Equation is definitely worth checking out. And with the addition of bar and hat functions in the most recent release, it's only getting better.
