Slackintosh is a version of Slackware GNU/Linux that is designed for Macintosh computers running on the PPC platform.
It is important to note that this port was not accomplished by Russell, so any bug reports should not be directed to him. For the porting process, Adrian utilized the Sources + SlackBuild files from Slackware 10.1 but had to do a few tweaks. For instance, the new Binutils from 10.x were not compatible with GCC, so he had to use the 9.1 Version to build everything.
Also, the Installer utilizes BusyBox 1.0, and Linux 2.4 is not included. Only 2.6.11.5 is present since it runs better on PPC. Not all packages are yet ported, but you'll get gcc, X, Mozilla, XFCE, and Gimp. Unfortunately, giant packages like KDE & Co are not included. Therefore, the installer may appear somewhat rough around the edges. You'll still see some missing packages, and the yaboot installation still needs to be tested more comprehensively. However, with some patience and effort, you should be able to get it up and running.
Slackintosh won the WFM (WorksForMe) award and was tested on a MiniMac & iBook2. The requirements for Slackintosh include: having a New-World Macintosh, and Slackintosh 10.1 was tested (and compiled) on an iBook2 (G3 - 600mhz) & a Mac Mini.Overall, Slackintosh is an excellent port for those who desire to run Slackware on their Macintosh systems.
