SMBsniffer is a software tool designed to sniff out NMB traffic for SMB protocols.
This program is able to reject unknown MAC/IP addresses that try to register a known NMB-name. The program is not just limited to NMB sniffing, but also offers the ability to conduct SMB-sniffing, file-dumping, login-tracking, and much more.
The program boasts the capability to compile C-source on a system with libpcap compatible with various flavours of Unix operating system, making it highly flexible and easy to use. SMBSniffer has undergone rigorous testing on Linux (2.x), ensuring its reliability and efficient functioning.
In the latest release, the program now detects NetBios-NS traffic, making it more competent and reliable. Additionally, the program offers the hope for a future version that may include reserving certain names for certain IP/MAC-addys, and file snarfing. Overall, SMBSniffer offers a highly sophisticated and efficient solution to detect and manage network traffic with ease.
