Analyze SNMP trap notifications through Net-SNMP's snmptrapd with ease. Efficiently read and process alerts using this software tool.
Starting up the module is a breeze. In fact, you only need to use one line of code. Simply create a new SNMP::Trapinfo object while passing in the *STDIN variable. Once created, you can proceed to direct the packet to a file, for example, directing the output to a trap.log file.
The module also allows you to define rules precisely to match your particular needs. To do so, you only need to use little snippets of Perl code, executed using the eval() method, and macros to extract specific parts of the snmptrapd packet. Moreover, with the expand method, you can easily obtain macro definitions.
You can use the evaluated packet to take an appropriate action such as sending an email, post an IM or passive check to Nagios(). The module supports complex evaluations of packets. The module can process packets for ppp, and you can specify specific indexes to retrieve.
Overall, SNMP::Trapinfo is a highly useful Perl module that makes processing and evaluation of SNMP traps an absolute breeze.
