Squidview is an interactive program that provides a convenient display of monitored squid logs. It offers easy and efficient log viewing with its user-friendly interface.
It should be noted that Squidview is not a proactive resource controller and requires squid to be running first. To install the program, execute the "configure" and "make" commands. When "make" is successful, type "make install-strip" to get a smaller executable. If you are not a superuser, the program can still run as long as you have read access to the squid log file.
This program assumes that the primary squid log file is located in /usr/local/squid/var/logs/access.log. In case this is not the correct location, simply symlink it from the default directory. When squidview is first run by the user, this directory and links are automatically created in the user's home space.
Squidview also supports three log locations, giving you the ability to accommodate rotating logs. To use this program, you need to have the ncurses library.
The latest release of Squidview removed an enum for clean compiles on gcc 3.4. All in all, Squidview is an excellent program for monitoring network usage and analyzing user activity.
