Swocket is a Python-based XML Socket server that possesses modular capabilities. It is designed to facilitate effective communication between different devices.
With the goal of significantly lowering the barrier of entry for authoring impressive (near) real-time multiuser content in Macromedia® Flash®, Swocket's extensible framework can handle almost any such multiuser content that can easily be integrated with existing databases on any server platform, even under high loads.
Unlike other software solutions, Swocket is multipurpose, designed so that only one server process is required for each server. It can support multiple services for multiple domains on just one port, resulting in smaller memory footprints and increased capacity.
Swocket's BSD license ensures no restrictions on the usage of the software, even for commercial purposes. In addition, it is designed to be as open and non-proprietary as possible, evolving based on the community that uses it. Even if you decide to sell your version, there are no requirements to contribute back to the public.
The latest release of Swocket includes lots of new features, such as new authorization handlers and inline pydoc documentation. While the software assumes you know what you're doing, the mailing list is available to help those who are interested.
