Tb AutoSave extension saves TB messages automatically as soon as they're received, streamlining messaging workflow.
Users can customize their preferences to dictate the default extension and how filenames will be arranged. Autosave.defaultExt dictates the default extension of filenames while autosave.filename_style dictates how the filename will be arranged. For example, users can arrange filenames by sender, date, and subject. This way, any permutation can be used.
Outgoing_filename_style allows users to format their outgoing filenames differently from incoming ones, using similar rules as filename_style. Additionally, autosave.date_style controls how the UT variable will look in the filename, with options for hours, minutes, and seconds as well.
A "Rules" file also dictates what will be autosaved and to where. Each header can have a regexp and a corresponding path, with the option to use a %r var to fill in substring matches. Headers that can be regexped include from, to, and subject.
It is important to note that the fileto path must exist for autosave to work. This can be a benefit, as users can set rules to match messages they do not want autosaved using a path that does not exist.
The extension requires Thunderbird 0.5 - 1.0+ and has recently undergone bug fixes and performance enhancements. Overall, the Tb AutoSave Extension is a useful tool for automatically managing and organizing email messages.
