The Ark Roleplaying Kernel is a multiplayer roleplaying engine with 3D features.
This engine contains a full outdoor 3D engine with support for skeletal animation and triangle-accurate collision detection. That's not all; it also includes tools to create worlds and quests and has loaders for the most common low-polygon 3D formats.
Players enter a world named Arkhart, where a never-ending war has destroyed the planet. The arrival of insect-like creatures called daphyrings caused the war, leading to a Middle-Age-like ignorance. Humans have forgotten all their knowledge and only know how to forge old-fashioned weapons such as swords, axes, and bows. Fauna and flora have also been changed because of the cataclysms (nuclear incidents) occurring during the Great War. These accidents separated and divided humans into many clans while still holding a common religion.
ArkheartRPG (ah, such originality!) is the name of the game set in the world of Arkhart. This game is still in development, but the potential for a great RPG game is evident. To run this game, you need Lua 4.0.1 (required), Simple DirectMedia Layer 1.2.0 (required), and GTK+ 1.2.0 (recommended).
The recent update of the game has fixed a compilation problem and provides more information output when crashing due to not reading the INSTALL. So, if you're a game developer looking to create an exciting RPG game with ease, the Ark Roleplaying Kernel project is definitely something worth checking out!
