This software is a freeform information organizer that helps users manage and categorize data without rigid structure limitations.
Tobu revolves around tagging each item of information and using filters to sort and manage them. Instead of organizing data as it is added, it is only organized and filtered on the fly when the user is looking for it. By filtering tags and sorting resulting lists, Tobu is able to create lists of items that are easily manageable.
Tobu offers many functions that might not be readily apparent, and for this reason, it is highly recommended that users read and understand the basics of adding tags, filtering, using sortable tags, and searching for a tag. Although optional topics such as templates, views and favorite tags can be left for later, it’s always best to be knowledgeable about all the features offered by Tobu.
Keyboard shortcuts are an important component of Tobu's design. Users will find that the most important functions are easily accessible via keyboard, without having to use the mouse. If users ever need to refresh their memory about any of the available keyboard shortcuts, they can view the list at any time by going to Help | Keyboard Shortcuts.
Tobu uses a standard sqlite data file to store the database. It's conveniently stored in the program's directory. Users can use any tools that work with standard sqlite files to access it. In one of the upcoming versions of Tobu, a script will be provided that will create linked html files or a plain text file out of the database. Additionally, there will be an in-program option to create the same for the current filtered item list.
