Tzoperl is a Perl-based client-daemon software that efficiently works for TZO Dynamic Domain Name Services (DDNS).
The TZO Perl v2 client has been thoroughly tested and comes with complete installer support for several popular operating systems, including Redhat Linux, Apple Mac OS X, Sun Solaris, and FreeBSD. Other Linux and UNIX versions are also supported, including versions of Cobolt that do not have a special package for TZO. Furthermore, this code is released under the GPL license and can be modified for use on additional software platforms.
TZO offers a wide range of services, including Domain Registration Services, Dynamic Domain Registration Service (Official Registrar), SMTP Mail Store and Forward, and Web Hosting options for users with Static or Dynamic IP Addresses. Users can also host multiple virtual domains with their single IP Address. Additionally, TZO allows for DNS Hosting/Parking Services for Cable and DSL users, as well as standard ethernet and PPP. Private Domains can also be hosted on Linux Servers with a Dynamic IP Address for less than $60 per year if the domain is already registered!
This release includes several bug fixes, including a file collision bug occurring on Apple OSX and Microsoft Windows. Some file-path targets have also been moved into a hash array to make future Windows/other OS support easier. Further updates have been flagged in the code with comments, and a TODO file has also been created. An INIT script has been moved from /System/Library/StartupItems to /Library/StartupItems on OSX, and the StartupItems 'TZO' file has been fixed to work more in line with other OSX startup scripts. The script does not currently handle Shutdown and restart commands properly, but the actual TZO daemon can be shut down using 'tzo -q'. A README.osx file has also been created in the OSX folder.
