VideoteXt is a Linux/x86 compatible software that decodes videotext/teletext for PC.
With its TOP-text capable XView-version, you can receive all single pages of a station in advance in a matter of minutes. The hotlist feature seeks frequently used pages automatically whenever you switch to a new station. VideoteXt also allows you to save and load pages, and export them in GIF-, PPM-, PNG-, ASCII- and PostScript-format.
The command-line version offers TOP-text support and the ability to output received pages in different ASCII- and binary formats suitable for later post-processing with AWK scripts. The device-driver, which is a loadable kernel module for Linux, supports a list of hardware interfaces that are currently available in the software. Meanwhile, the software also supports the use of external viewers for web browsers.
If you want to buy a new videotext interface, you can refer to the list of vendors of supported videotext interfaces. You can also use VideoteXt without a videotext-interface, making it ideal for building a web-based videotext server.
The new release of VideoteXt comes with a lot of improved features such as the fixed broken 'Reveal' button, increased performance of GIF-/PPM-writing routines and added GIF- and PPM-formats to vtxget. Other additional features included to improve user experience include a new dialog-box for copying selected station settings, improvements in interactive feeling with slow interfaces and preliminary support for tuners on videotext-cards via tunerctl.
