Wallpapoz is a Gnome desktop tool that allows you to set distinct wallpapers for various virtual desktops or workspaces.
The latest update includes randomization support. This means you can group specific wallpapers into certain workspaces. To elucidate, your cartoon wallpapers can randomize for certain times in workspace one; your nature wallpapers in workspace two; your adult wallpapers in workspace three, and your Gnome wallpapers in workspace four.
Wallpapoz has two programs. The first one is a daemon that continuously monitors your desktop. Whenever you change workspace, or the specified time has passed, the daemon will change your desktop wallpaper. The daemon reads your preference and acts accordingly. Its configuration file is written in XML format. Although you can edit it using any text editor, it's not convenient. To make it easy, there's another program to edit the configuration file.
Just click the button, find the wallpapers that you'd like to put into specific workspace, and you can easily create a configuration file. Please refer to the screenshot to see how it works.
The daemon program is called daemon_wallpapoz.py. You just need to add this program to Gnome's startup programs list. If done right, every time you log into Gnome session, your desktop will have the ability to have different wallpapers for different workspaces.
The requirements for Wallpapoz are pygtk and python-glade2. The latest version has several new features. First, it now supports the Indonesian, Japanese, Swedish, Deutsch, French, and Spanish languages. Overall, Wallpapoz is an incredible software that can change your desktop's look and feel to keep things fresh and exciting.
