Webcomics Collector is a tool that enables users to download their favorite webcomics using a Python script. It is a simple and efficient way to collect and store webcomics in one place.
You can start downloading webcomics from the first page with Collector and work your way back through the archive, regardless of the strip's naming or dates. Additionally, the order of the strips can be recorded in a file that is useful when using the web interface or frontends.
Many webcomics do not name their strip-images in a way that allows you to view and read them without difficulty; hence it is recommended that you use the web interface instead.
To use Webcomics Collector, you require a Posix compliant OS and Python 2.3. Unfortunately, GDBM (required by the tool) is unavailable for Windows, while Mac OSX should work correctly.
New features in the 0.7.3 version include improved error handling and altpreviousexp and altimgexp support. The new version allows the removal of newlines and tabs before regexp searches and comes with an extra class to support comics from ucomics and unitedmedia.
The 0.5.3 stable release added support for various new comic strips such as CtrlAltDel, Chopping Block, Sexy Losers, Sex and Violence, Sinfest, Help Desk, etc. Error handling was also enhanced in this version, with the program collecting download errors and displaying them at the end of the run instead of aborting the entire operation upon encountering an error.
